Stories have been an important part of the human experience for centuries. They have the ability to reach any individual and provide a great sense of relatability and purpose. They allow someone to insert themselves within that realm and create sentiments within it. I am drawn to the way even the oldest stories and elements of symbolism continue to stay relevant in the contemporary world. In my work I have explored narratives that interest me and injected myself within them in order to bring them into a more personal space. These pieces of fiction contain various symbols and relatable components of the human psyche that peak my interest immensely.
In my newest body of work, I have weaved my personal emotional and psychological experiences with symbols and have built my own world in order to tell a new tale. It is my desire to express the fear and uncertainty that I am experiencing in this transitionary period of my life. The turmoil I feel during this new transformation is a direct source of inspiration for the images I am creating. Crows are an important symbol I am identifying with in order to signify this haunting journey I'm flying on as I shift into the next chapter of my life. Within each painting I make, I am creating my own myths and legends to share with the world.
